light is not the remark of a director

Light does not play-act; it does not pretend, it does not imitate.

It allows me to read the words of Deleuze before me but offers nothing by way of stage direction as to how those words or my role as reader should be played. Rather it is a prop in my staging of my reading or perhaps it is the stage itself in this ugly metaphor. I cannot read without it after all.

With light i can see a candlestick but with the stage directions of Bloch I can see that the light and the candlestick are the same.
